The picture was taken in back of Augusta High School. It was the first year that Galesburg-Augusta sent Galesburg students to Augusta. Adrian Smothers remembers, "I have since found out that Mr. Tornquist was a Paratrooper in WW II with the 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment and there is a good chance that he jumped into the Los Banos prisoner camp, freeing the captives there." |
